Introduction
Welcome to the Department of Physiology, CMH Lahore Medical College & IOD. Physiology is the integrative study of cellular and whole-body function and is the pivotal discipline linking other basic medical sciences on the one hand, with the experimental and clinical medicine on the other. The Department of Physiology, the most dynamic of the basic science departments has made a steady and noteworthy progress since inception of this College. Through a strong interdisciplinary integrated approach, we focus on delivering quality education to undergraduate students of multiple disciplines including MBBS, BDS, Allied Health Sciences, B.Sc. Nursing by highly qualified and skilled teaching faculty. The department is well known for its active involvement not only in academics and research but also in co- and extra-curricular activities by encouraging students to participate in inter/intra collegiate debates, quizzes, mushaira and literary competitions and to write scientific research papers. The mode of teaching revolves mainly around lectures, tutorials, problem/case-based learning, small group discussions and practical demonstrations along with various other interacting activities. The department has a well-furnished and an up-to-date undergraduate laboratory equipped with all essential equipment to foster learning fundamental physiological concepts to enhance the knowledge and training of the students. The laboratory is well designed by installed LCD, sound system and beautiful eye-catching vinyl Physiology theme-based wallpapers which converted it to the state-of-the-art lab. Data acquisition systems including PowerLab and BIOPAC’s world-class life science research platforms provide the most advanced acquisition and analysis of physiological measurements for undergraduate as well as postgraduate students.
