Introduction
The Department of Pathology at CMH Lahore Medical College is headed by Brig (R) Prof. Dr. Abdus Sattar who leads a team of highly qualified and experienced faculty encompassing all the disciplines of the subject. These include professors, associate professors, and assistant professors in the fields of Histopathology, Hematology, Chemical Pathology, and Microbiology. The department is involved in teaching the subject of Pathology to MBBS students during their third and fourth years and various Allied Health Sciences programs. The faculty aims to build a strong foundation for the students through innovative teaching. All the members of this department have completed their certification in Health Professional Education, thus showing their commitment to excellence in medical teaching. The faculty has published numerous research articles in national & international medical journals and presented their research at scientific conferences. Moreover, the department is involved in conducting scientific workshops in various disciplines of Pathology and managing the College Scientific journal, MedEra. Faculty members are always encouraging students to get involved in research activities and provide facilitation at all levels. Our faculty plays a key role in the college mentorship program, providing students with continuous support in academics and personal development. In addition to excellence in academia, the Pathology department is heading several student societies. Currently, the department is heading the Patient Welfare Society, Qira’at & Naat Society, Photography Club, Career Counselling Board, and Constellasians Alumni Association. Students are welcomed here and encouraged to join the societies of their interest and actively participate in various events. Our aim is not only the excellence of our students in the field of medicine but beyond.

Brig (R) Abdus Sattar SI(M) after graduation (MBBS) from Quaid-i-Azam Medical College Bahawalpur joined Pakistan Army as a career. He qualified grading diploma in Pathology and MCPS (clinal Pathology) in 1984 after one year training at Armed Forces Institute of Pathology Rawalpindi (AFIP). During deputation in Saudi Arabia (1985-1988), he submitted guidelines on dietary food supply to Pakistani Troops which had profound effects on prevention of obesity, hypertension and ischemic heart disease with the result of significantly decreased incidence of deaths due to IHD. He did FCPS (Chemical Pathology) in April 1992 & M. Phil (Pathology) in Oct 1992. He underwent “On job Training” in UK in 1993.
Dr Abdus Sattar served in the Armed Forces for 31 years and mostly served in tertiary Care Hospitals (>500 bedded hospital) and Armed Forces Institute of Pathology Rawalpindi which is a training institute and a referral laboratory of international repute. As an Armed Forces requirement, he made tremendous contribution for Medical Defense against CBRNE warfare, prepared management and training policies, imparted training to AMC medical offices and organized1st National Seminar on Medical Aspects of Nuclear Biological and Chemical Warfare on 22 May 2006. He played key role in up-gradation of Clinical Pathology Services and a result got recognized Pathology Depts of various Armed Forces Hospitals for fellowship training by College of Physicians & Surgeons Pakistan. He has served as member faculty of chemical pathology, CPSP and is supervisor and examiner of FCPS students for the last over 20 years. He was awarded complementary membership of American Diabetic Association for one year for his review article on “Stress Hyperglycemia. He has been conferred with “Sitara e Imtiaz” Military as recognition of his meritorious services towards Pakistan Armed Forces. He was awarded “Life Time Achievement Award” in Pathology in 2012 to acknowledge his contribution in the field of Pathology.
