Collaboration between CMH Lahore Medical College & Institute of Dentistry and King Edward Medical University in Research and Academics
Yesterday was indeed a notable day, for concrete steps have been taken towards institutional collaboration in research and academics between CMH Lahore Medical College and King Edward Medical University (KEMU). Worthy Principal CMH Lahore Medical College & Institute of Dentistry Major General (R) Prof. Dr. Naeem Naqi along with Vice Principal Brig. (R) Dr. Muhammad Arif Mahmood, Head of Health Professional Education & Director Postgraduate Studies (SHaPE & Dir PGS) Prof. Dr. Junaid Sarfaraz, Director ORIC Prof. Dr. Rabiea Bilal, HOD Community Medicine Prof. Dr. Ashraf Chaudhry, Director QEC Dr. Gul Shaikh and Editor of Journal of CMH LMC Dr. Farhat Ijaz from the College visited KEMU where a fruitful discussion with the Vice Chancellor KEMU Prof. Dr. Khalid Masood Gondal and his team members took place. The various developments and opportunities for medical and dental students and professionals in academics, research and professional growth were shared and highlighted from the representative of both institutions. Prof. Dr. Khalid Masood Gondal shared the progress that KEMU has made in telemedicine during the testing times of Covid-19 pandemic along with the various research facilities and academic programs. Prof. Dr. Naeem Naqi talked about the progress CMH Lahore Medical College & Institute of Dentistry has made over the years in hosting various symposiums, conferences, workshops, and professional development courses for undergraduate and postgraduate students and medical and dental professionals for uplifting the culture of research and continuous professional growth. He highlighted the importance of collaboration and mutual learning opportunities for the students and faculty members in terms of faculty/supervisor exchange for M.Phil and FCPS programs to improve the quality of education and clinical training. He elaborated that sharing of clinical data of patients from Mayo Hospital for research purpose will also help in facilitation of the students and researchers. It was also discussed that for Journal of CMH Lahore Medical College & Institute of Dentistry (MedERA JCMHLMC), qualified and experienced faculty members from KEMU may also become a part of the Editorial Board. Vice Principal CMH LMC Brig. (R) Dr. Muhammad Arif Mahmood stated that to collaborate with a prestigious university as KEMU will exceptionally contribute to the professional growth and development of the profession. Head of SHaPE & Dir PGS Prof. Dr. Junaid Sarfaraz extended his full support to KEMU for medical education programs in the future and highly appreciated the immense progress KEMU has made over the years in telemedicine, research and academics. Director ORIC Prof. Dr. Rabiea Bilal talked about the successful running of the state-of-the-art animal house in CMH Lahore Medical College for possible joint research activities. The fully equipped and functional animal house is of key importance in research not only for projects related to medical and dental field but can also help researchers from material sciences. An MoU has been signed by the Principal CMH Lahore Medical College Major General (R) Prof. Dr. Naeem Naqi and Vice Chancellor KEMU Prof. Dr. Khalid Masood Gondal for future collaboration in research and academics between CMH Lahore Medical College & Institute of Dentistry and KEMU.
