January is cervical cancer awareness month. The GynaeObs department of CMH LMC organized an awareness session on Cervical cancer screening on 23rd January, 2024. The participants were MBBS students of CMH LMC and Midwifery students of Institute of Nursing. Students gave supervised interactive lectures to their peers. A ‘ learning by role play’ activity was organized by students of CMH Dramatics Society (CDS). The whole coverage of event was done by CMH Photography Society (CPS). This activity was also observed by the simulated patients of ObGyn dept for training purpose.
This was followed by a hands-on activity by faculty of ObGyn department on Pap Smear and Liquid Based Cytology of the cervix. The Department of Pediatrics used the forum to create awareness about the HPV vaccine introduction in the government EPI program. CMH LMC laboratory arranged microscopy stations to show normal and abnormal cervical cytology. The activity was appreciated by students and faculty. The participants pledged to create awareness for cervical screening among female friends, family and patients
