6th National Conference on Medical Journals with the Theme: Enhancing Quality of Medical Journalism in the Region was held at the University of Health Sciences

6th National Conference on Medical Journals with the Theme: Enhancing Quality of Medical Journalism in the Region was held at the University of Health Sciences, Lahore on Monday 21st October’2024. The conference was arranged by Pakistan Association of Medical Editors (PAME) in collaboration with UHS and Eastern Mediterranean Association of Medical Editors (EMAME). The core editorial team of MedERA Journal of CMH Lahore Medical College attended the conference, representing the institution.

Along with the main conference, editor-in-chief MedERA, Dr Farhat Ijaz was invited as a panelist to join the post-conference closing session hosted at the University of Lahore as a token of recognition to our journal by PAME officials. The panel discussion came up with very burning discussion points. The session was very well attended by senior executive of PAME besides a large number of editors of medical journals published by various medical institutions from all over Pakistan, faculty of the University College of Medicine and Dentistry at University of Lahore as well as postgraduates.

In the continuum of the conference, a Pre-conference workshop was hosted at CMH Lahore Medical College, having the honor to invite honorable sir Shaukat Ali Jawaid as the key note speaker, who is the editor in chief of Pakistan Journal of Medical Sciences. Around a hundred participants attended this engaging and enlightening session on “Scientific writing and quality in Publications”. Mr Jawaid appreciated the editors on their dedicated efforts in the progress of the journal, provided feedback and technical comments for further improvements.

Overall, the conference brought closer the policymakers, editors, reviewers and many potential authors and provided a platform for sharing the knowledge, strengthening the journals highlighting the key issues and opportunities of the medical journalism in Pakistan.
