CMH Lahore Medical College & Institute of Dentistry hosted the “1st USMLE/U.S. Residency Match Interactive Workshop” on 4th May 2023 at Afzal Auditorium. It was an engaging & informative session which was led by a panel talk featuring our graduates, Dr. Waleed Iftikhar, Dr. Salaar Riaz, Dr. Faateh Rauf, Dr. Hammad Malik & guest speaker Dr. Omer Bajwa, who successfully matched into residency training programs in the USA. The event was preceded by a meeting with the Chief Executive Maj. Gen. Naeem Naqi HI (M) and Deputy Chief Executive Brig. Saqib Zaheer, CMH Lahore Medical College & IOD. The panelists were congratulated on their achievement and welcomed with refreshments. Certificates of appreciation were awarded to all the speakers and key agenda points, pertaining to the development of awareness regarding pathways to Graduate Medical Education (GME) in the United States, were addressed. The session began with recitation of the Holy Quran. Thereafter, the Chief Organizer, Head of Anatomy Department Prof. Dr. Ansa Rabia, inaugurated the session with a welcome note. This insightful workshop encompassed high-yield points, presenting the entire roadmap to a career in medicine in the US, for students and graduates. The panelists addressed all the relevant domains comprehensively, stimulating the minds of young aspirants, to aim for competitive training after graduation. The topics elaborated included discussion on taking the exams, relevant clinical experience, and advice on how to improve a candidate’s application. The event was multifaceted, covering a panel talk and Q&A session followed by one-on-one discussion of the participants with the panelists at the end as well. The keenness of the participants demonstrated promising outcomes. We also received a virtual audience and were glad to see guests showing their interest in the session. The event concluded on a positive note with the hope that this enthusiasm grows with time.
