January is cervical cancer awareness month. Cervical cancer is one of the most preventable gynecological cancer. Early detection can prevent upto 80 percent of cervical cancers. In developed countries, there is a well- developed program of cervical cancer screening but in Pakistan the uptake of such screening program is low. The students of CMH Lahore Medical College and Institute of Dentistry organized an Awareness Walk for Cervical Cancer Prevention on 26th January, 2022. Hamyel Tahir of 4th year MBBS organized the ‘PAP ASAP’ workshop under the umbrella of IFMSA Pakistan .Uswah Shoaib, Abdullah Ahmed and Zainab Hafeez coordinated the event . Representatives from the Chughtai Laboratory presented local data of cervical cancer as well as information about cervical smear cytology. Students actively participated in the hands-on activity. These student-led events were highly appreciated by the College faculty and administration. We are so proud of our students!!
