The increasing interest in forensic medicine throughout the world is no doubt a result of the global rise in both crime and litigation. The department of forensic medicine and toxicology is working with the aim of equipping the medical students with the essential knowledge of crime scene investigation. To meet the up coming challenges advance technology and new techniques are also introduced to the students. Department comprises of museum containing models, dura prints, X-Rays of medico-legal nature and specimen of poisons, weapons and instruments. The department has well furnished and well equipped Analytical laboratories dealing with teaching and training in Forensic Toxicology, Forensic serology, forensic anatomy and forensic radiology sections. Faculty
DMJ, MCPS, M.Phil, FCPS(1) Professor and Head of Department He graduated from Nishtar Medical College in 1978, served Pakistan Army for 03 years. Started his career from Quaid-e-Azam Medical College as Demonstrator in Forensic Medicine & Toxicology acquired diploma (DMJ) and M.Phil in Forensic Medicine from PGMI in 1986 and MCPS in 1989. During his career he served various institutions of Punjab including PMC, QMC, PGMI, LMD&C & KEMU. He has a dynamic personality. He remained a member of various Boards, Committees & Societies. He is amongst few of the senior most Forensic Experts and teachers in Pakistan. He served at King Edward Medical College, now university for about 18 years as Assistant, Associate and Professor. He has 25 years of teaching experience in the specialty and has about 15 Publications on his credit. During his stay at KEMC now KEMU, he has been administrative Incharge of the department for about 13 years engaged in teaching and training of under / post graduate students, doctors and members of law enforcement and judiciary. He has been chairman and convener of DMJ (diploma) and M.Phil degree programmes. He has been on the panel of various universities of Punjab as examiner in the subject of Forensic Medicine since 1986.
M.B, B.S, D.M.J. Designation: Associate Professor He graduated from Nishtar Medical College Multan in 1980. He served Pakistan Army for three years as Captain. He did his post graduation as Diplomat in Forensic Medicine & Toxicology from Postgraduate Medical Institute Lahore in 1986. He has a teaching experience of thirteen years in the Department of Forensic Medicine & Toxicology, King Edward Medical College Lahore. He served as assistant Professor at KEMU and has been teaching under graduate and postgraduate students since 1995. More than 700 autopsies, approximately 1000 medicolegal cases and 50 exhumations are also in his credit. He remained Incharge of autopsy and medicolegal sections of Forensic Medicine Department KEMU, Lahore during this period. He has two research papers on his credit published in international journals. He has attended many workshops on teaching methodology and medical education. He got training in Problem based learning (PBL) and community oriented medical education (COME).
MBBS, DMJ-1 Designation: Senior Demonstrator. He graduated from Hamdard College of Medicine & Dentistry in 2004. He is certified in Basic Life Support (BLS), and Advance Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). He has actively participated in organizing and conducting various seminars and conferences of Forensic Medicine & Toxicology. He has three years teaching experience and conducted / assisted one hundred autopsies and one hundred medicolegal cases at KEMU. Presently he is actively involved in lectures, tutorial classes, and practical teaching at CMH Lahore Medical College. Dr. Afroze Ashraf MBBS, MCPS (GYNAE), FCPS – 1 Senior Demonstrator She graduated from Allama Iqbal Medical College in 1997. She has served as a post-graduated trainee in the field of gynaecology as well as both outdoor and operative experience. She did her MCPS in 2008. She has vast experience in teaching, currently she is actively involved in academic activities including taking lecture on medicolegal aspects of gynecology, abortion, infanticide at CMH Lahore medical college.
MBBS Demonstrator He graduated from Lahore Medical & Dental College, Lahore in 2008.He has gold medal in Physiology and Forensic Medicine in his credit. He is certified in Basic Life Support (BLS), and Advance Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). He also attended medical seminars and conferences. He did his house job in Medicine & Surgery. He is involved in demonstration of practical and tutorial classes in CMH Medical College.
BSc, M.B.B.S Demonstrator He graduated from LMDC in 2008 and completed his one year house job. In Medicine and Surgery. He had also attended, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS),Basic Life Support(BLS) cources
